Ways to Play Wisconsin Pick 4

Unlike most lotteries, Pick 4 gives you control over how to play. The main steps to follow are the same, but you set your own winning conditions! The boxes below outline the two distinct ways you can play in Wisconsin. If you can't decide which one suits you best, you could play the same numbers on two separate panels and go for one of each.

Straight
Straight

A Straight is a wager on four numbers being drawn in exact order. For example, pick 1357 and all four digits must appear in those same positions. Any other order, such as 3175, and your wager is lost. A Straight is hard to win but has the best payout.

Box
Box

When your numbers are 'boxed', it means they can match the winning digits in any order. If you play 2468, for example, and the numbers are drawn as 4286, you still win. The payout isn't as big as a Straight, but the odds of winning are much better.

4-Way to 24-Way Box

If you play a Box, the prize you can win also depends on whether it is a 4-Way, 6-Way, 12-Way or 24-Way. This may sound puzzling at first, but it simply refers to how many possible winning combinations there would be for your selected numbers. If all four of your numbers are different, they can be arranged 24 different ways. If some of them are the same as each other, there are fewer winning combinations.

The table below describes each way that numbers can be boxed, along with examples and odds. You can also use the generator tool below to enter any set of numbers and it will provide you with all the winning combinations

Keep in mind that a Straight play only ever has one possible winning combination, so the odds of winning are always 1 in 10,000. Go to the Odds and Prizes page for all the payouts.
